Shear wave ultrasonics utilize sound waves sent through the material at an angle to generate an image of the inside of the material in order to find discontinuities.
The probe being used can then be moved back and forth to discover the disruptions inside the material.
Like all ultrasonic inspections there is no need to quarantine an area in order to allow safe conditions to employees, such as when using x-ray processes.
