Penetrant Testing
Liquid penetrant testing is used to find surface cracks and discontinuities that will apear as red dye on a white background.
This test is able to cover a variety of materials and is helpful in it's ease of use and transportation.
The penetrant is applied and is given time to soak into any discontinuities open to the surface.
After the dye is cleaned off, a white developer is applied that will draw out any dye trapped in the surface.
This gives a dramatic contrast making discontinuities easy to see.
